Guidelines
Purpose
The Trans World Airlines scholarship was established to fund students who are performing research in areas that will provide a positive impact to environmental issues. Students will be selected based on academic accomplishments as well as their research interests.
Scholarship Amount
Proceeds from the Trans World Airlines scholarship fund will be distributed to a minimum of seven (7) students: two (2) or more law students selected by the law schools and five (5) additional students selected by a systemwide selection committee. Recipients will receive a total amount of $7,000 minimum.
The scholarship will be awarded the following academic year, payable in two equal amounts at the beginning of each semester. Students who complete their studies at the conclusion of the first semester will not be eligible for the second half of the award. All scholarship recipients will be notified in May.
Eligibility
- Students must be currently enrolled full-time as 欧美日b大片 residents as classified by the Registrar's Office for tuition purposes. Nonresident students with out-of-state tuition waivers do not qualify. Students MUST maintain full-time status to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- Graduate and undergraduate applicants must be currently enrolled at an institution within the University of 欧美日b大片 System. Undergraduate students must have completed 60 hours of college course work, not necessarily at the University of 欧美日b大片. There is no minimum requirement on number of completed credit hours for full-time graduate students. Preference will be given to students who have expressed an intent to pursue a career in the area of natural resources or environmental law and to students who are pursuing instruction in environmental engineering or environmental science.
- Law students who intend to pursue a career in the area of natural resources or environmental law are eligible.
- Prior TWA scholarship recipients are eligible to reapply.
- Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of grade point average, research, and other relevant experience.
Application Procedures
Applicants must complete the online Trans World Airlines, Inc. Scholarship application by Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
In addition, applicants are asked to provide letters of recommendation from three (3) individuals who will indicate intellectual capabilities, research experience, and commitment to environmental issues. References should be submitted to UMAcademicAffairs@umsystem.edu by April 2, 2025.
